Hollywood legend Robert Duvall, who portrayed the notorious mob lawyer Tom Hagen in "The Godfather," made a dramatic appearance at the Warrenton Town Council meeting to oppose the construction of an Amazon data center. Duvall, who still thinks the movie is real life, shocked the council members when he arrived at the meeting with his posse of "made men" and threatened to use "some muscle" if the data center was approved.
Duvall, dressed in a slick suit, approached the council members and warned them in his best gangster voice, "You don't wanna mess with me or my family, capisce?" The council members, taken aback by the aging actor's threatening manner, nervously nodded their heads.
But that wasn't the end of the show. In a desperate bid to sway the council members, Duvall began to perform his costar Marolon Brando's famous Godfather monologue, "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse." However, due to his age, the actor forgot the lines halfway through and resorted to making up his own lines. "I'll make him an offer he can't...um...maybe refuse? Or maybe not...oh, forget it!"
Despite Duvall's passionate plea, the council members ultimately voted 4-3 in favor of the Amazon data center. In response, the actor reportedly slammed his fist on the table and shouted, "This isn't over! I'll have my family take care of this!"
The irony of the situation was not lost on Amazon, who released a statement reminding Duvall that he owes his entire acting career to their data centers. "We're surprised Mr. Duvall would oppose our data center when it's what keeps his movies streaming. We suggest he goes home and watches 'The Godfather' to remember it's just a movie."
As for the people of Warrenton, they're now nervously looking over their shoulders, wondering if they're on Duvall's hit list.
