For the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, a recent Tuesday meeting unexpectedly turned into a schoolyard-style debate on which British royal is more attractive. The verdict? Kate Middleton - and they've got a county name change proposal to prove it.
The renaming resolution was proposed by Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega, who reportedly argued that the county was due a face-lift, so why not name it after someone with a really great face?
"Our county needs a fresh coat of paint," Vega stated, "and what could be fresher than a county named after the Princess of Wales? Plus, she's considerably more attractive than our current namesake, no offense to any balding Princes out there."
Brentsville District Supervisor Jeanine Lawson agreed. "Look, Prince William is a fine chap and all," added Lawson. "But let's be real, Kate is a total smoke show. And we think that's something worth celebrating."
The proposed name change has sparked a heated debate among county residents, many of whom are unsure how to feel about their home potentially being named after a British royal based solely on her physical attractiveness.
"I guess she's pretty," said local resident Martha Higgins, 73. "But I don't see what that has to do with our county. Are we going to start naming things after all the good-looking people now? Because if so, I'd like to submit my grandson for consideration."
Others, however, have embraced the idea with enthusiasm.
"I mean, it's not like Prince William ever did anything for us," said local resident Patty James. "At least with Kate Middleton County, we'd have a chance of getting some decent fashion sense around here."
"Nothing against Prince William, but let's face it - he's not exactly smoldering," County Executive Chris Shorter said in an interview, adding that the Prince's receding hairline doesn't exactly scream 'sexy county name material'. "Kate Middleton, however... now that's a woman with a smile that could launch a thousand ships."
While the board is set to vote on the new name in the coming weeks, it's unclear what Prince William himself thinks of the proposal. When asked for comment, a spokesperson for the royal family only said, "We were unaware of the original county name, but wish them the best of luck in their vote. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales remains proud of his hairline."
